Scoil Mhuire's Journey to the Corn Herald Semi-Final
We started off our journey playing St Pat's. Breezed our way to victory in our first match. Now with momentum on our side we were ready for our next game.
We faced St Brigid's in our first Cumann na mBunscol match. We played into the wind twice, but still pulled through with another win for Scoil Mhuire.
The following week we played against Lucan in a much tighter match. We came out victorious, but only by 6 points.
Next we were to face Belgrove. When we arrived in St Anne's to play we noticed that the pitch was small, but we got on with it and did our warm up. As soon as the match started, we scored a very early goal (well done, Bobby). After the time had passed the final whistle was blown. We all celebrated, we were in the semi-final!
Two weeks passed, and the team was training hard. Tuesday morning came; I got up early (at around 7:15), ate a good breakfast, and made my way to school for 8:00. Some of my teammates arrived, and we began to puck the ball about.
At 2:15 we made our way to the pitch to do our warm-up. At 3:00 the match started. At half-time we were 5 points up. The second half started and St Lawrence's scored 2 goals and 1 point to put them up by 2.
The final whistle was blown, and Scoil Mhuire CBS lost the game by 2 points.
It wasn't our day yesterday, but we hope that the 5th Class boys will step up next year. We look forward to watching.
I want to say thank you for all of your support and guidance over the season. I also want to say a big thanks to Mr Grace, Mr Connolly, Mr O'Byrne, and Mr Rabbitte.
I am so proud of every one of my teammates who fought to their last breath.
I am so grateful to have played for Scoil Mhuire CBS like so many of my idols.
